Dr. Cynthia Owens K. Brown
Dr. Brown is Founder and CEO of DCOKB’s Ministry of Compassion, Inc., the nonprofit 501c3 entity that is sponsoring the proposed Family Community Resource and Entertainment Center (FCREC) in collaboration with Alva Collins and Quatra Estates, LLC, Consulting, Development, and Construction services. The Center represents the vision given by God to Dr. Cynthia Owens K. Brown nearly 30 years ago, when He redirected her life from pursuing a career in fashion marketing and management to pursuing the renewal and rebirth of the once renown City of Camden and its residents.
In 1994, God dramatically got her attention in a doctoral seminar at New York Theological Seminary during a discussion of the dismal plight of the City of Camden and its residents. Previously, she pursued and earned an AA Degree to a Master of Arts Degree in marketing. After her call, she was led to also pursue, and she earned, Master’s and Doctoral Degrees in ministry. God’s message through her to the City and its residents was, “You are loved; I have not forsaken you.” Her doctoral thesis reflected that same message, “Planting a Church in Camden, NJ Through an Evangelistic, Socio-economic Agenda.”
Dr. Brown has actively participated in and served the mayoral initiatives of six administrations; Camden City Police Department; Camden City Fire Department; Riverfront State Prison; Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI); National Chaplaincy Program; and various local and state entities that worked to meet the needs and uplift of the City and its residents. She is the recipient of many certificates and letters of commendation for her services.
